The Beginning of Bocardo


So, this is how the current iteration of our project started…initially we wanted to create a card game combined with roguelike combat, and we were referencing only one game: Slay the Spire. It turned out that our design was neither unique or interesting because any design issues we encountered either Slay the Spire had the solution or our solution was identical to theirs.  Realizing a few tweaks here and there was not a permanent fix for our design, we decided to scrap the combat design and start fresh. We still liked the idea of designing a card game, but we wanted to put a greater emphasis on “roguelike combat”. This is the concept of our combat, with objectives on the grid maps that the player can move towards, yet both movement and attack are controlled by playing cards. Diagram, engineering drawing  Description automatically generated
